Sam Roehl gives seventeen inches of hope

One of the most important things in a girls life is her hair but Senior Sam Roehl gave up that one thing for someone who may need it more.

The non-profit organization Locks of Love,  helps kids under the age of 21 who are suffering from medical problems that results in hair loss.  The people who donate their hair, like Sam, provide the hair that is then made into wigs for the kids in need.

“I’ve been growing my hair out since freshman year and I was not planning on donating it until recently.  I started to research it and found out I would need to cut at least ten inches off.  I then decided that the ten inches of hair on my head would make someone else happy.” said Roehl.  Roehl ended up cutting off seventeen inches of her hair.  “I didn’t expect it to be that much, it was a huge change but I liked it.”

She had to fill out the donation form that was sent along with the hair to the organization.  “Even though I was unsure about it at first, it makes me feel good to know that I’m helping someone else out there who deserves hair.”
